Harriet I. Hall

July 6, 1927 ~ November 25, 2021 (age 94)

Harriet I. (Roberts) Hall, 94 of Alfred passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021.

She was born on July 6, 1927 to the late Lester and Ertie (Turpin) Roberts in Alfred.  She was born at her family home in which she was still residing in.

Harriet attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1945.  She then attended Becker College in Worcester, MA where she was trained to be a medical secretary.

She was employed at Maine General Hospital (now Maine Medical Center) in Portland for several years.  She was also employed at Nasson College in Springvale from 1950 to 1958.

On October 1, 1950 Harriet married Richard C. Hall and together they shared 57 years of marriage until his passing in 2007.

Harriet spent many years as a homemaker and mother.  She was an active member of the North Alfred Baptist Church and the North Alfred Ladies Aid Club.

Her community was important to her and she volunteered at the North Alfred Community House harvest suppers in which she was known to donate her amazing pies.

Her family remembers her amazing pie crust and great baking skills.  She also made wonderful potato salad and coleslaw which were part of the picnic lunches her family would take to the White Mountains.

Harriet was a kind person and though she stayed behind the scenes, loved to laugh and joke around.  Some of her favorite sayings were “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your pretty neck.”, she would greet you with “Howdy Doody, and when you said “See ya later” she would reply, “When your legs are straighter.”

She is predeceased by her husband, two sisters Katherine Roberts and Janet V. O’Gara, a brother Lester Albert Roberts and her son in law Wendell C. Ivey.

Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Ivey of Alfred, her brother Lawrence Roberts (Lorraine) of Shapleigh, sister in law Barbara Roberts of Alfred, her cousin Paul Roberts (Ruby) of Sanford, her very special niece Kathy Snyder of Endicott, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
