Obituary

Harriet E. Guillemette, 95, of Sanford, died at her home on Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Harriet was born on October 11, 1925 to Harry and Josephine (Turmelle) Hoyt in Rochester, New Hampshire where she grew up and attended local schools. In 1952 she married Benoit Guillemette and together they raised two sons and shared 68 years of marriage. During her working life Harriet was employed for many years as a telephone operator. She also helped her husband with his business by keeping all of the books and helping keep all of his paperwork organized.

Harriet was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St Thérse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Her life was devoted to caring for her family and she always put their needs before her own without exception. She took pride in keeping an immaculate appearance, keeping a neat home and preparing nice meals for her family. Harriet was a shining example of what a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother should be and she will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Benoit Guillemette of Sanford; two sons, Joseph Guillemette and his wife Sandra of Sanford and Thomas Guillemette and his wife Angie of Buxton; five grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Sara, Matthew and his wife Michelle, Stephen and his wife Katelyn, Audrey and Austin and eleven great-grandchildren, Danielle, Elizabeth, Samya, Daniel, Jr. Elijah, Shelby, Matthew, Jr., Lillian, Simon, Anna and Jaxxon.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 27th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 28th at St Thérse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford.

Due to the current situation with covid-19, mourners will be asked to wear a mask and maintain proper social distance. In accordance with state guidelines there will be a maximum of 50 mourners permitted in church. Services will also be live-streamed at www.stthereseparishmaine.org.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to St. Thomas School, 69 North Avenue, Sanford, Maine 04073.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
